Im Back

Sorry I have been offline for a while. We got really busy with photo shoots, then the hurricanes in Louisiana and Texas had all of my attention. I am also a Red Cross Disaster Services volunteer, so I got deployed to Louisiana for Hurricane Gustav and then to Texas for Hurricane Ike. I am just getti...

Unfortunately I have not tried photographing fireflies either. Now that I'm interested in the possibility of trying to photograph them I do not believe they exist here as I do not remember ever seeing one in the last 8 years that I have lived here. That's just my luck, lol.

I am trying to decide if I need the R1C1 or just the R1 version without the SU-800 Speedlight Commander since I have the D70s, D200, and D300 which all have the built in speedlights with commander mode already since they are about $200 difference between the two. I also have 4 of the SB-800 AF Speed...

Yea, I keep seeing it and other similar devices used on CSI, CSI Miami, NCIS, etc. and have wondered if the benefits of it would be worth the costs. I have found several situations where I wished I would have had one already, even in my wedding photography. One of the photos that I want to try to ge...

112 to 115 degrees! Now I remember why I moved to Hawaii from the South. Fortunately it never reaches over 100 here, normally the hottest summer days are in the mid to upper 90's. I guess I will have to quit complaining about having to shoot in the "heat" here in the summer now. Remember t...

Right now I am using the Nikon D200 and D300 and I am on the waiting list for the new D700. I also still toy around with my older D70s from time to time.

18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Nikkor Lens

Has anyone else tried the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Nikkor Lens? I have recently started using this lens for my wedding photography on my D300 along with a Sigma 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 DG Macro Lens mounted on a Nikon D200 body as a backup. There is a huge price difference with the Nikon...

Re: Intense Colors

Unfortunately thats the bad side effect of the volcanic ash in the air (Vog). On many days in late summer for the past couple years, if the trade winds (from the North East) die off and we get what are called "Kona Winds" which come from the South East where the volcano is located. It make...

Intense Colors

Fortunately the volcanic particles stayed airborne for a couple weeks giving us awesome red, orange and deep purple sunsets for several of our weddings. It was actually quite distracting as I wanted to spend more time watching the beautiful sunsets than photograph the couples, lol. Every few moments...

Hawaiian Sunset Wedding

Here is one of the sunset photos that I took using a Nikon D200 body with a Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Nikkor Lens There was a lot of recent volcanic activity on the big island of Hawaii over recent weeks which caused a lot of volcanic particles to be in the air which worked like a c...

Re: D200 TIMER & REMOTE

How do I set the timer of the D200 body? Will my old wireless remote from the d70 work with it? Many thanks, William Unfortunately the D70 remote will not work with the D200 as they are completely different from each other. As for setting the self timer for the D200, its very simple. Turn on the ca...
